She was just a quiet little girl When she saw that star a-falling Heard its thunder calling her That fire in a blue september sky Left forest trees shaking Hearts racing Made her want to take off and fly She was a restless and romantic teen Felt like life was moving too slow And she just didn’t know why She escaped under a blue september sky Hitched a ride on the highway American runaway Chasing shooting stars through the night Now she’ll shine like a second sunrise Not afraid to Burn through All the pain and the doubt and the lies And she’ll never stop searching for where that star fell Or be free from its wandering spell She never stopped to settle down There were too many horizons Luring her with siren songs And sometimes on clear September days She’d think of all the long miles Adventures and trials Chasing that magic star-light

Quick 05:23
Hey Kid - I hear you’re pretty good Dreamin ‘bout breaking away Driving faster than you should Hey Kid - they call you cheetah quick But have you got the demon heart That’ll make that speed stick? Hey Kid - what’s pushin you so hard? It it just a passing phase Has it left you scarred? Hey Kid - you ain’t never come in last Never felt the sting of loss So I have to ask Quick, are you quick, are you quick - as a crack of thunder Quick are you quick, are you quick - do you feel the hunger Quick are you quick, are you quick - like a rabbit running Quick, are you quick, are you quick- kid the green flag is waving Lets start misbehaving And never slow down Speed is a relative thing, just look at history The ancient people didn’t see it as a mystery They knew that their feet didn’t have the juice So they dreamt of gods with winged boots They captured horses out on the plains Tamed speed with saddles and with reins Built ships that sliced through sea and spray Getting faster, every day And when they hit that limit where Flesh would fail, canvas would tear They turned to iron and to steel Lit gasoline to turn the wheel Motorcycles, air-o-planes supercars, bullet trains Fighter jets, rocket ships Fast enough now for lunar trips So now let me tell you about my own experience with speed I used to live in a lofty place Where we took it slow, where we didn’t race But I craved the rush of a downhill glide Breaking rules, yeah, taking pride So they pushed me out and I fell down, down down down And kid, you ain’t never felt speed like that And when I hit the ground, I kept on running Never gonna stop, wheels still spinnin There’s a breeze in my hair, I’m a-winnin and a-grinnin You wanna catch me? Well you better be quick But enough already with the idle talk Let’s line ‘em up, start the clock Turn the key, yeah fire ‘em up 5, 4, 3, 2 Are you ready kid? Now let’s see what you can do. Hey Kid, I hear you’re pretty good, That you don’t know when to throttle back That you don’t know when you should Hey Kid, they say you’re quite a pro But I don’t give a good goddamn about that I just want to know

Sexy Robot 03:44
Sexy Robot - titanium frame and a heart of plutonium Sexy Robot - manufactured curves creating pandemonium Sexy Robot - charged coupled eyes and a brain transistorized Sexy Robot - reprogramming hearts with her smile, synthesized Oh, I know, I’m a loser for saying so But I kinda like the feel of stainless steel, hardware galvanized with sex appeal Sexy Robot, your curves they don’t compute Sexy Robot, my confusion - acute Sexy Robot, cupid’s digital missile Sexy Robot, resistance - futile Sexy Robot - your million dollar body is a wonder of technology Sexy Robot - exotic materials confounding my psychology Sexy Robot - low maintenance and a can-do attitude Sexy Robot - everywhere you go they wonder what you look like in the nude Oh, I know, I’m a loser for saying so But I think I always knew That I’d break a taboo, cross the uncanny valley for you Oh, I know, I’m a loser for saying so But I just wanna cry whenever she walks by Plugs herself into a power supply

Left Behind 03:29
He was always chronically late He didn’t know how to keep a date He was sleeping in every day Dreaming ‘bout the dragons that he would slay He missed every opportunity Watched ‘em sail by like a ship on the sea He was busy doing his own thing Holding court like a slacker king Lets go! One day he rolled out of bed Walked downtown, a-scratchin his head There was nobody on the road Lights were off, the stores were all closed He screamed “Anybody there?” No reply, just echoes everywhere He had slept through that special day Everyone had been raptured away Left Behind How will he survive? No XBOX no Internet Nothing but time Left Behind He paid the price of slackin’ napping, procrastinatin’ Now he is losing his mind He always had an excuse For showing up late, for being obtuse But we loved him nonetheless For the fucked up way he defined success Now he’s wandering the earth alone Calling his friends but nobody's home And sometimes I shed a little tear Wishin’ he were partying with us up here

Dog don’t know how to use a toilet bowl Dog don’t know how to play no rock and roll Dog don’t know why the moons spins round all night Dog don’t know how to read or how to write Dog don’t know how to smoke a cigarette Dog don’t know how to drive a red corvette Dog don’t know how to calculate a tip Dog don’t know what’s cool or what’s unhip What’s the point of dollars and coins? bucket lists, grand designs? Dog don’t need no dead-end goal Dog don’t need to save his soul Anyway, Dog just don’t know Dog don’t know about ancient history Dog don’t know about monogamy Dog don’t know who’s too thin or too fat Dog just wants to catch that goddamn cat What’s the point of dollars and coins? bucket lists, grand designs? Dog don’t need no dead-end goal Dog don’t need to save his soul Anyway, Dog just don’t know

It began 5 billion years ago, with a dying star explosion Shock waves hurtling through deep space, set wheels in motion Fast forward to the present day - Hey! Things don’t seem quite right I’m stardust magic glitter dust, but I just can’t sleep at night I am not a precious snowflake, I am not unique I am not a rhodes scholar genius, I am not a sexy beast You wanna fight me? Hey! You’ll probably win! I haven’t got thunderball fists. So punch in the nose and watch me bleed Show me that I still exist Waste of a supernova, bastard of Jehovah Orphan son with a chip on my shoulder Sometimes, I stop and wonder - am I a cosmic blunder? And if so, are the stars laughing at me? For every star you see at night, there are a million that you don’t For every dream that springs to life, there are a million that won’t I’ve been a hero only once before, found a lost dog, it was crying And I’ve been trying, living and dying, to play the role of hero once more We grind ourselves down every day, reaching for apples that get snatched away Better to live and learn to smile, embrace our flaws with grace and style Oh yeah! It began five billion years ago and here I am still today The mutant son of a suicide star deep in the milky way I’m pretty sure that I’m a piece of an unseen master plan But if I screw up just cut me some slack I’m doing the best I can

Cracks 03:00
100 steps, that's how far it is, from his car to his office door 100 steps the same ev-er-y day, nothing new nothing fresh nothing more But today there's a crack, it appeared overnight, in the concrete step 58 It's jagged and black and it threatens to tip in an evil direction his fate Now there's cracks in the walls, cracks in the doors, cracks in the ground underfoot It's falling apart, his perfect world, And his trust he has nowhere to put Because there's cracks! And they're spreading out of control There's cracks! And he's trying to keep it whole There's cracks! And I wonder who he'll be Yeah cracks! When it crumbles down we'll see There's cracks! 100 steps, that's how far it is, from his car to his office door Fear in his eyes, he's counting the cracks, finding more than the day before He wonders if the cracks are plain for ev-er-y-one to see He dare not ask, for if they are, just that much worse they'll be Now there's cracks in the sky, cracks in the sea, cracks in the air that he breathes He wears his smile like a mask, But in his heart he seethes Now there's cracks in his face, cracks in his hands, cracks in the white of his eyes He shines as he finally crumbles to dust, Free at last from the lies Because there's cracks! And they're spreading out of control There's cracks! And we're trying to keep it whole There's cracks! And we wonder who we'll be Yeah cracks! When it crumbles down we'll see There's cracks! 100 steps, that's how far it is, from his car to his office door 100 steps the same every day, nothing new nothing fresh nothing more

We gathered in a field, the sunlight was fading A thousand different stories, dreams we were chasing Watched the storm clouds roll in uninvited Wondered how long we’d remain united A rolling sound of cannons, the fireworks exploded Rain came pouring down, thunderheads unloaded Fiery petals falling through a downpour raging Never surrender, never stop waging Oh, nothing ever stays the same The castles that we build today will be torn down and swept away But oh, we’ll keep our fires burning warm Hurl fireworks at the storm Until we’re gone Some of us ran for the safety of cover Some of us remained, huddled with the others When the storm broke we were bruised and breathless Reborn into a world cruel and restless

He carved his mark then he blew away Uneasy shadows in his wake Scars and sullen glances, dark memories of romances Hard new lessons in heartbreak Did he ever say goodbye? / Did he ever leave? Or did we tear him apart / and into our hearts weave? Fragments of a bad man / Fragments that we’ll never sweep away Fragments of a bad man / Fragments that still cut us every day He knew that mischief thrives in the light He knew that lies shine like gold Weaving deception Twisting perception Our innocence, he bought and sold Did he ever say goodbye? / Did he ever leave? Or did we tear him apart, / and into our hearts weave? Fragments of a bad man / Fragments that we’ll never sweep away Fragments of a bad man / Fragments that still cut us every day He disappeared, no rest for the wicked He knew the rules of the game We learned his lessons He left impressions Scarred by a cold burning flame Did he ever say goodbye? / Did he ever leave? Or did we tear him apart, / and into our hearts weave? Fragments of a bad man / Fragments that we’ll never sweep away Fragments of a bad man / Fragments that still cut us every day

I’ve seen starry nights foreving burning Story books, pages ever turning Shoreless seas, endlessly churning Monuments eroding to dust And I’ve seen legends blossom and wither Angels soar, serpents slither Blind man scramble yon and hither Love and die to a lunatic song I’ve seen rivers rage and then evaporate Glaciers surge and silently eviscerate Nova flare and gaudily illuminate Rituals bizarre and obscene And I’ve seen magic murdered by circuitry Demons subjugated by psychiatry Fear and hope transformed into theology Altars raised to a formula All these years of winter snows falling All these years of mysteries calling All these years of searching and crawling Questions under a darkening sun All these years of autumn leaves burning All these years of cynical observing All these years of mice and men yearning All these years but answers, I’ve none.

Shut up - turn on the television screen We've got programming there for you A thousand soma pixels to keep you numb To all the lowdown dirty things we do. We’ve got lawyers, loopholes, golden parachutes Gated communities We’ve stolen your piece of the prosperity pie But we’ll sell it back for a fee Revolution - stop - but the streets are burning Revolution - stop - but the world keeps turning Revolution - stop - but our house is falling Revolution - stop - but the future's calling NOW Compassions expensive - honesty too They just liabilities In a world this hard it’s not who you save Only how much you can seize We’ve got lobbies, markets, politicians Security to lock you out We’re making decisions that will keep us safe And we don’t care how loud you shout The party, it’s over - the lights have gone down Let’s all sing a final song About a golden age without fear or doubt An age with no right or wrong We had power, influence, Jaguar cars Insularity We were only looking out for ourselves And so will you, just wait and see

I’ve got a dozen tarnished bottles, filled with genies sleeping, fast locked inside an ancient wooden cabinet, with a darkly whispered past A witch’s broom above the hearth, A book of magic, black A restless Count’s razor fangs, A unicorn out back The world’s a grey and listless place, It’ll grind you down to dust Learn what you can trust So learn the ways of magic, Learn to cast a spell Leave the everyday behind, and weave a tale to tell Learn the ways of magic, Read the starry skies Find the wonders that will slay, A world rotten with lies She said I don’t believe in magic, I only trust the world that I can see I said you can let the world devour you, Or you can make it what you want it to be A time machine in the garage, A coyote playing tricks An archangel’s flaming sword, A road of golden bricks The world’s a grey and listless place, It’ll grind you down to dust Learn what you can trust
